Automotive has subject to approval from the Environment Agency
, struck a five year deal with Derbyshire based kiln operator
Tarmac Buxton Lime and Cement near Buxton to supply tyre chip
to the facility.
The deal will see Credential supplying up to 30,000 (4.5 million
tyres) tonnes of tyre chip a year to the plant. Which is equivalent
to a quarter of the tyres handled by Credential and roughly
a third of the fuel used by the kiln.
Proposals
to hike up the cost of shipping recyclable waste to China could
threaten the UK recycling sector, the Environment Agency has
warned.
The
comment from the government body came as many waste exporters
raised fears that the cost of sending containers to the
Far East could be even more than originally expected - with
some fearing a "catastrophic" 100% price rise.
Shipping lines such as Maersk are to raise their Eastbound
freight charges from next month.

This tyre ‘chip’ is the raw material for
our cryogenic recycling process. Every day we take delivery
of up to 80 tonnes of chip and put it through our state
of the art process.

of Iceland is a leading environmental waste recycling company.
They Operate a tyre shredding plant in the capital Reykjavik
and a further shredding operation in the east of the Island.
Bryan Packman the National Commercial Sales Manager was
contacted to ascertain if Credential had the capacity and
capability of processing tyres which already had been put
through a primary shredder in Iceland. The tyres that had
been shredded were primarily passenger car tyres with some
truck and earthmover tyres.
