As
of 30th October 2007 these regulations become the law. In
simple terms this means that as a commercial premises your
general waste contractor must ensure that the waste collected
has been pre-treated before it is taken to landfill.
This can be as simple as removing a specific waste stream
from the general waste such as paper or cardboard.
Landfill
tax is a government led incentive to recycle, as increased
disposal cost for mixed general waste will result in individuals
and companies sourcing alternative means of disposal in order
to keep costs down.
